Pastoral care sits at the heart of the school, ensuring every child feels safe, supported and valued.
Alongside this, our wrap-around care provides a structured and reliable extension to the school day, offering a calm, engaging environment before and after school that supports both pupils and families.
Our extensive programme of clubs and enrichment activities allows pupils to discover new interests and develop existing talents.
From sport and the arts to academic and creative pursuits, these opportunities play a key role in building confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of learning.
Activities run throughout the week and are inclusive of every age group, giving pupils space to try something new alongside their core studies.
Pupils are encouraged to choose freely — we want every child to find their own passions and pursue them with confidence.
Inspiring Cultural Visits
From museums to historic landmarks, our trips bring learning to life — deepening understanding and sparking curiosity beyond the classroom.
Hands-On Outdoor Learning
Whether exploring nature or practical activities, pupils engage, experiment, and discover through real-world experiences.
Educational Day Experiences
Carefully curated visits enhance classroom learning — building knowledge, confidence, and independence in equal measure.
Residential Adventures
Our residential trips are a highlight — developing resilience, friendships, and unforgettable memories that last well beyond school.
At St John's Priory School, our school day is designed to provide children with a purposeful and engaging balance of academic learning, creativity, physical activity and wider opportunities.

Throughout the week, children experience a broad and balanced curriculum, with core academic learning alongside Science, Humanities, Languages, Art and Design, Music, Computing, PE and a variety of enrichment opportunities.
Our timetable gives children time to become absorbed in their learning, while regular breaks and lunchtime provide opportunities to play, socialise, be active and enjoy time with friends.
For children in Preschool and EYFS, the rhythm of the day is adapted to meet their developmental needs, combining adult-led learning with purposeful play, exploration and opportunities to follow their interests.
The formal school day finishes at 3.30pm, with a range of clubs, extra-curricular activities and wraparound care available until 5.30pm.
While our timetable gives structure to the day, life at SJP is about much more than individual lessons. Our children are encouraged to demonstrate our four school values in everything they do — from persevering with a challenging task to having the courage to try something new, showing honesty or treating others with respect.
Perseverance • Honesty • Respect • Courage
Be Bold. Be Brave. Be You.
This is an example of a typical day. Timetables and activities may vary depending on year group and curriculum requirements.
Our cooked school meals are freshly prepared using high-quality organic ingredients, providing pupils with balanced and nutritious food each day.
Meals are included within the fees, reducing both time and cost for families — there is no need to prepare packed lunches, although parents are welcome to do so if they prefer.
