Year 3 Exploring Habitats at Limes Farm

As part of year 3’s habitat work in science, they visited Limes Farm to investigate pond and woodland habitats.

The children looked for signs of different animals including: burrows, track marks, discarded nut shells and pine cones and by looking up into the trees, they saw birds nests and a squirrel.

Underneath the tress , they discovered that rotten wood and leaf litter provide habitats for woodlice, millipedes, centipedes, spiders, beetles and worms. They also saw moorhens, ducks and a pair of swans with a signet on the pond, and looked at the different types of plants growing at the water’s edge.
